Our Story
The journey of 8th Life Sanctuary is one of compassion, dedication, and the belief that every cat deserves a chance at happiness.
How It All Began
We started adopting cats from the streets of San Salvador in 2015. It all started when a stray mom cat and her kittens her kittens to our garage. We had never been cat lovers, but we couldn't leave them to fend for themselves. We found a home for some of the kittens and we adopted the rest. The mom cat was feral so we coudnt take her in. Unfortunately, she was killed by a car a few days later. But she taught us a lot about love and compassion. She didnt give birth to the kittens in our garage, but instead she brought them to use once she realized they would have a good home with us.
We started feeding cats in the neighborhood and we realized that there were a lot of cats that needed a home. We couldnt take them all in so we started taking care of them as much as we could, by neutering them and giving them a place to live outside our home. Unfortunately, the stray cats population in San Salvador is large so there are much more stray cats than people willing to adopt.
From that point on, we started to rescue cats from the streets and give them a second chance at life, a place where they can be loved and cared for, for the last part of their lives.

What started as a small rescue operation in our founder's backyard has grown into a full-fledged sanctuary .
The name "8th Life" comes from the belief that cats don't just have nine lives - they have infinite potential for love and happiness when given the chance to thrive in a nurturing environment.
